People hardly ever send letters anymore, so it’s pretty exciting to receive one amongst all of the Kmart catalogues and Pizza vouchers. And even more exciting when it’s an invitation. And even more exciting when it’s an invitation to an art exhibition. And even more exciting when it’s your friend’s exhibition! So, I was over the moon to find an invitation to Tessa’s exhibition at the Percolator Gallery in Brisbane. Tess is an amazing artist/creator, and is always working on a project – from prints to set design to music film clips to delicious jam-filled chocolate cakes. She’s one of those people that are too clever and need to share around some of their creativity. Luckily for us, she shared her talents with us for the Leanne Shea Langdown Carmen Miranda inspired illustration.
Her exhibition invitation is proudly sitting on our fridge but very sadly, I won’t be able to go – so hoping she adds some more of her pieces to Etsy. If you’re in Brisbane from 5th – 11th June – please go, love you’ll it. Have a look at some more of Tess’ work on her website.
Welcome to 2012! We hope that you have had (or are still having) a fantastic holiday, filled with family, friends, fun, frolicking, possibly fireworks and fruit mince pies. We’ve taken the opportunity to recharge our batteries and trawl the internet and scour the streets so we’re ready to start the year with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm – which we’d love to share with you. We’d also like to share with you some of the work we’ve been doing.
To start the year with a bang, we’ve launched a new website for Beis Painting, who provide a professional painting and decorating service in Sydney and Canberra. Arpace got the ball rolling last year by creating the Beis Painting logo, corporate collateral and branded polo shirts, and we’re excited to be helping them promote their business with vehicle signage and construction site signage. You can check out some more of our work here.
With a new social project in the pipeline and some exciting projects in progress, the tea leaves say 2012 will be an exciting year and we hope you will join us along the way!
For the past month I’ve been fortunate enough to be working with one of Canberra’s favourite Arts personalities, Frank Madrid, and his wonderful team at Fama, on one of the most exciting Latin music events to come to Australia! The Pura Vida Latin Music Festival is a celebration of Latin American music and culture. The festival has already brought some amazing artists to major venues across Australia, and free Latin dancing lessons to Canberra city. Even though I don’t understand half of what is said in their office (“hola” being the only Spanish word I know), I have learnt so much watching the Fama team put together this huge project. This long weekend, we will be at Floriade’s ‘Carnival in the Park’ turning Commonwealth Park into a grand fiesta with a banquet of Latino sounds, colours and flavours. I can’t wait to finally experience Colombia’s Latin Grammy Winners, ChocQuibTown; Brazil’s Renegado; and Venezuela’s Desorden Publico. Go on, have a look at the festival website, and come and smell the roses, and have a dance!
